Dulong River
Dulong River Vally, locined in Gongshan County, Yunnan Province, in the China-Myanmar border, has been the traditional settlement of the Dulong people.
naze naze started the Dulong River weaving project in 2015, continuously launching designed products made from handwoven Dulong blankets.
The Dulong ethnic group has a nationwide population of only about 7,000 people. Dulong women are known as "rainbow weavers" referring to the colourful blankets they woven.
The weavers’ wish is for their children to receive better education, and having opportunities to travel.
Going to church, dancing, surfing on Chinese TikTok, and playing basketball are part of the weavers’ daily routine.
The weaver team in the Dulong River Valley spans a wide range of ages, with the youngest weaver born in 2005 and the oldest born in 1958.
The average annual income for farmers in the Dulong River Valley is about 15,000 RMB, with the most important cash crop being Chinese black cardamom.
The route to the Dulong River Valley, which traverses snow-capped mountains, is susceptible to landslides, often stranding naze naze members on the mountain road.
